Schedule: Monday-Friday (some overnight travel)

As a safety leader for Airgas, the Fleet Safety Specialist takes pride in the day-to-day implementation and alignment of the company's fleet safety policies and programs. The role focuses on translating safety standards into operational reality by conducting field audits, monitoring real-time driver performance data, and providing supportive coaching and partnership with drivers and managers. Operating across our operations, you will foster continuous improvement in road safety performance and reduce motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) by leveraging data analytics and telematics (Lytx).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Telematics & Coaching: Leverage Lytx video telematics and event data to proactively coach drivers, identify at-risk behaviors, and implement targeted corrective actions.
Regulatory Compliance & DQ Files: Ensure full alignment with DOT regulations and SMS standards, maintaining complete, audit-ready digital driver qualification (DQ) files in Tenstreet.
Driver Onboarding & Training: Facilitate driver training programs and sustain the Driver Mentor Program to ensure effective onboarding, skill development, and ongoing performance consistency.
Safety Culture & Incident Management: Model the Company's Zero Incident commitment, lead accident/injury investigations, and drive proactive "Good Catch" reporting.

Are you a MATCH?
Required Qualifications:
Fleet Safety & Telematics Experience: Demonstrated track record in enforcing fleet safety policies and utilizing data analytics and telematics (Lytx) to monitor performance, conduct root-cause accident investigations, and reduce MVAs.
DOT & Regulatory Compliance: In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, SMS standards, driver qualification (DQ) processes, vehicle maintenance programs, and log/ELD compliance.
Driver Coaching & Training: Proven ability to train, coach, and mentor drivers through behavior-based techniques, field observations, pre-employment assessments, and specialized compliance courses (including HM126F, forklift certification, and safety meetings).
Auditing & Safety Culture Leadership: Experience conducting field/facility audits, assisting with DOT compliance reviews, and promoting a proactive Zero Incident culture through Good Catch reporting and PPE enforcement.
Preferred Qualifications: Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT & Airbrake endorsements.
