Job Description: Manufacturing Operations Supervisor — Forte Opening Solutions
Location: Marshfield, WI Openings: Two roles in different departments Schedules: Schedule 1:Mon–Thurs, 2:30 pm–12:30 am (mandatory OT every other Friday) Schedule 2:2-2-3 rotation, 6:00 pm–6:00 am
A day in the life: It’s the start of your shift in Marshfield. You check the Tier boards: KPIs are visible, trends are clear, and your team knows the target for the night. You walk the floor, confirm staffing and materials, and huddle with leads to align on the production schedule. You coach a new associate through a standard work step, audit a cell for 5S and process adherence, and post a countermeasure to a quality miss—complete with root cause, owner, and due date. Throughout the night, you keep the queue flowing, adjust priorities, reinforce safety and quality, and celebrate wins. When challenges arise, you guide the team with data, lean tools, and clear communication—so everyone leaves knowing what success looks like tomorrow. What you’ll own Lead day-to-day plant operations: assign work, balance labor and machines, and keep output aligned to the Production Schedule. Use production/Tier boards to make performance visible; hold structured reviews and drive corrective actions with owners and deadlines. Maintain the integrity of Tier Board data and conduct regular lean process audits to verify standards. Train, demonstrate, and coach teams on lean tools, standard work, and continuous improvement. Communicate early and often: ensure roles, expectations, and updates cascade clearly through the process. Partner with leadership on talent assessment and development; provide routine feedback, recognition, and support. Interpret procedures and methods; verify correct and safe use of equipment and adherence to quality documents. Recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce scrap. Interview, hire, develop, and lead operations staff; address complaints and resolve issues per company policy and law.
What you bring: Knowledge, skills, and abilities Exceptional verbal and written communication; proven leadership and team-building capability. Self-driven with strong organization, follow-through, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; prior experience with Paycom, Workday, and ERP systems is a plus. Analytical mindset; integrity, respect, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions. Desired: solid HR and financial acumen.
Qualifications: College degree in a related field preferred; or a high school diploma plus several years in a supervisory role. At least 2 years of recent experience in wood, metal, or similar-material manufacturing.
Physical requirements: Stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift. Lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Climb and work at heights using ladders and aerial platforms; carry or maneuver 50+ lbs. Twist, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods; excellent manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination. Comfort working in a manufacturing environment.
