About the Role: Labcorp is seeking aClinical Laboratory Technologist (MLS)to join our Microbiology team at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s – Woman’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin .In this role, you will perform routine and complex laboratory testing, evaluate specimens, operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, maintain quality-control standards, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of test results. You will work in ahigh-volume, production-based clinical laboratory environmentwhere technical expertise, attention to detail, sound judgment, teamwork, and a commitment to quality are essential. Work Schedule1st Shift:7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Days: Monday–Friday
Additional Schedule Requirements: Rotating weekends and holidays
Key Responsibilities: As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Perform routine and complex technical laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Make appropriate technical decisions related to testing procedures and problem-solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls. Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality-control procedures. Identify and replenish testing-bench supplies as needed. Assist with specimen processing when required. Maintain a safe laboratory environment and consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).Follow established laboratory procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative laboratory team.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must meet the applicable education and experience requirements, including:
  • Bachelor’s degreein Chemical Science, Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field.
  • One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
Preferred Qualifications: The following qualifications are preferred:
  • One year or more of microbiology experienceworking as an MLS.ASCP or AMT certification.

  • Education and science coursework that meet applicableCLIA requirements. In lieu of the education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits may be considered when they meet CLIA standards.
  • The ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity with
  • Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) .Proficiency with computers and laboratory technology.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to pass a standardizedcolor-blindness test .Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs.
