Registered Respiratory Therapist

Key Responsibilities: Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy diagnostic procedures. Conduct Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), including: Spirometry Lung volume testing Diffusing capacity testing Bronchial provocation testing Exhaled breath testing Stress testing Perform arterial punctures and obtain arterial blood gas (ABG) samples when required. Interpret ABG results and other pulmonary diagnostic data. Assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of respiratory therapy procedures. Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory therapy and pulmonary function equipment. Demonstrate knowledge of respiratory equipment, its clinical applications, limitations, and troubleshooting procedures. Document procedures, patient information, test results, and care accurately. Communicate technical information clearly to physicians and other healthcare professionals. Participate in department education, safety programs, and quality initiatives. Provide instruction and technical guidance to staff when requested. Maintain compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, sound judgment, and strong customer-service skills.

Qualifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through NBRC – Required Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license – RequiredBLS/BCLS certification – Required Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience required. Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and clinical applications. Knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology and respiratory treatment modalities. Ability to interpret abnormal laboratory values and recommend appropriate action. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
