Position Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of server and network infrastructure within a mission-critical data center environment. This role is responsible for maintaining the physical technology infrastructure that supports 24/7 data center operations. The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting computer/server hardware, installing and decommissioning equipment, diagnosing basic network connectivity issues, and responding to operational incidents. Successful candidates will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced technical environment. Strong organizational skills, communication, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly prioritize and respond to technical issues are essential.
Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, maintain, and decommission server and network equipment within the data center. Perform server rack installations and related hardware deployment activities. Diagnose and repair server hardware and other data center equipment. Troubleshoot hardware failures, connectivity issues, and basic network problems. Respond to operational incidents affecting service availability and escalate complex issues to senior technical resources or management when appropriate. Perform cabling, connectivity, and rack-level troubleshooting. Track technical issues and work requests through established ticketing and incident-management systems. Take ownership of assigned technical issues and coordinate with other teams as necessary to drive resolution. Participate in scheduled maintenance, change-management activities, and on-call support. Maintain established service-level expectations through proactive monitoring, issue identification, documentation, and escalation. Serve as a technical point of contact for internal teams, engineers, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders. Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and troubleshooting information. Identify recurring operational issues and contribute to process improvements and root-cause resolution. Assist with the training and onboarding of new team members. Travel Requirements: Ability to work in a 24/7 operating environment. Flexibility to work day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may exceed eight hours depending on operational requirements. Participation in an on-call rotation may be required. Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as business needs require. Candidates may temporarily train or work at another facility while their assigned location becomes operational. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license may be required for travel between regional facilities.
Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to perform the physical requirements associated with a data center environment, with reasonable accommodations where applicable, including: Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds independently. Participate in team lifts for equipment weighing more than 40 pounds. Work in confined, elevated, or otherwise restricted spaces when necessary. Regularly bend, lift, stretch, reach, and maneuver equipment. Stand and walk for extended periods, potentially eight or more hours per shift. Safely climb and descend ladders, stairs, and similar structures. Work in environments with elevated noise levels and use appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.1+ years of experience troubleshooting computer/server hardware or related IT infrastructure. Working knowledge of computer hardware components and basic networking concepts. Ability to diagnose hardware issues and perform component-level replacement or repair. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a data center, critical infrastructure, or similarly high-availability technical environment. Knowledge of network architecture, protocols, and Layer 1/Layer 2 troubleshooting. Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and decommissioning server and network equipment. Experience working with ticketing, incident-management, or work-management systems. Experience reading and creating technical procedures and operational documentation. Associate's degree or technical training in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related discipline.
Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical problem solver who is comfortable working in a high-availability, 24/7 environment. This individual should be able to independently troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues, manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and escalate issues appropriately when additional expertise is required.
