Apply for this role →Substitute Bus AideThe Substitute Bus Aide assists the bus driver in maintaining student safety and supervision while being transported to and from school and school-related activities. This role ensures students are seated appropriately, follows safety protocols, and provides support for students with special needs when required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ohio Educational Aide Permit
- Ability to work effectively with children of all ages, including those with special needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must pass BCI/FBI background checks
- Ability to complete required training as directed by the district
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist students in boarding, seating, and exiting the bus safely
- Secure seat belts, harnesses, or other safety equipment as needed
- Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe, orderly environment on the bus
- Provide support to students with disabilities or medical needs as assigned
- Communicate effectively with the bus driver regarding student needs and concerns
- Follow district policies and state laws related to transportation and student safety
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Frequent sitting, standing, bending, and moderate lifting when assisting students
- Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis
