Sterile Processing Technician The Sterile Processing Department is a cutting-edge facility specializing in the decontamination, high-level disinfection (HLD), assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, trays, and pans. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and a bar code tracking system, we service multiple surgical suites and patient care areas efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities: Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, technical equipment, and surgical case carts. Select appropriate methods of packaging and sterilization, consulting with the Processing Manager as necessary. Examine surgical instrumentation for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality. Assemble instrument sets according to established protocols, ensuring the correct number and type of instruments are included. Complete count and supply sheets to document the contents of each tray. Operate steam sterilizers according to established procedures, monitoring gauges and maintaining proper levels of time, pressure, and simple maintenance on sterilizers and ensure sterility through testing and documentation of results. Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment while adhering to protocols to prevent up, clean, and disinfect decontamination equipment and work areas at the end of shifts, following infection control protocols. Receive and store supplies, checking for discrepancies against requisitions and maintaining inventory par levels. Document equipment inventory use and report any equipment not meeting specifications for repair. Conduct daily quality assurance checks on sterile supplies and instruments, ensuring compliance with critical documentation standards such as sterilizer load sheets.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)BLS certification
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
  • Experience in a large hospital setting (500 beds or more)
  • Travel experience required (6 months)
  • Two professional references from previous positions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Level 1 trauma center
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER Cert)
  • Experience with orthopedic trays
