Aspire ESOL Instructor/Coordinator The ESOL Instructor/Coordinator is a full-time position within the Aspire Program. The position provides direct instruction and program coordination for Adult English language learners within the Aspire program. This position supports student recruitment, orientation, assessment, instruction, retention, transition planning, data management, and community partnerships while ensuring compliance with Ohio Aspire, ODEW, and federal adult education requirements. The coordinator helps students improve English language proficiency, workforce readiness, digital literacy, and pathways to employment, training, and postsecondary education.
Essential Responsibilities: Instruction & Student Success Plan and deliver standards-based instruction for adult learners. Help to develop and implement lessons that integrate English language acquisition, digital literacy, workforce readiness, and civics education. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and proficiency levels. Monitor student progress, attendance, and educational outcomes. Program Coordination Coordinate student recruitment, intake, orientation, assessment, placement, and class scheduling. Administer or coordinate required assessments and educational functioning level testing. Support student persistence, measurable skill gains, and successful transitions to employment, training, and postsecondary education. Assist with program planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and special projects. Student Support & Partnerships Provide academic and career guidance to students and connect learners with support services as needed. Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to reduce barriers to student success. Develop and maintain relationships with employers, community organizations, and educational partners to support recruitment and workforce pathways. Data, Compliance & Reporting Maintain accurate student records and data in LACES and other required systems. Monitor program performance and assist with grant reporting, data validation, and compliance activities. Ensure adherence to Ohio Aspire, ODEW, and Adult Education and Family Literacy Act requirements. Participate in required professional development, staff meetings, and state trainings.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (Education, TESOL, Adult Education, English, or a related field)Eligible to obtain and maintain an Ohio Adult Education Permit as required by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.10+ years of experience teaching Adult learners, English language learners, or diverse populations. Strong communication, organizational, and technology skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, employers, and community partners.
Preferred Qualifications: TESOL, TEFL, or ESOL certification/endorsement. Experience with adult education programs, Ohio Aspire, IELCE, or workforce development initiatives. Experience with student data systems, grant-funded programs, and performance reporting. Bilingual abilities preferred but not required. Employment Contingency Employment in this position is contingent upon the continuation of Ohio Aspire grantfunding and compliance with all applicable grant requirements. The position may bemodified, reduced, or discontinued if funding levels or program needs change.
