Location: Remote considered Travel: One to two trips per month involving two separate offices Salary: $180,000 to $200,000 annually Employer: Confidential engineering consulting firm An engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced electrical engineering manager to lead a team delivering building and facility projects. This role combines staff leadership, project oversight, operational management, and support for business development. The position is suited to someone who can strengthen technical delivery while building an effective, engaged team. Remote candidates must be available for regular in-person collaboration at company offices.
Key responsibilities: Manage the electrical engineering team’s workload, staffing assignments, and delivery commitments. Coach engineers, conduct performance reviews, and establish individual development plans. Oversee electrical work on complex projects requiring coordination across engineering disciplines. Monitor utilization, productivity, project budgets, and the quality of deliverables. Maintain consistent design practices and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Improve engineering processes, tools, and technology. Support proposals, scope development, fee estimates, and client presentations. Work with technical leadership on design reviews, risk management, and staff training. Identify hiring needs and support recruitment and retention. Address client concerns and maintain productive relationships throughout project delivery.
Qualifications: At least 13 years of engineering experience, including leadership of teams delivering complex building or facility projects. Bachelor’s degree in engineering and an active Professional Engineer license. Strong electrical building systems expertise and familiarity with multidisciplinary MEP coordination. Knowledge of relevant codes, quality procedures, and engineering risk management practices. Experience managing staff performance, project resources, and budgets. Ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients and colleagues. A master’s degree and additional MEP-focused experience are preferred. Candidates must be willing to travel between two separate offices one to two times per month.
