Overview: Seeking an experienced Scientist II to support in vivo research focused on chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM) disease models. This is a 12-month contract opportunity within a collaborative Research organization.
Compensation: $40/hour Contract: 12 months
Location: Ridgefield, CT | Onsite
Schedule: 40 hours/week with flexible weekend and holiday rotation as needed The ideal candidate will have hands-on rodent handling experience, proficiency in dosing and sample collection, and the ability to independently execute studies, analyze results, and troubleshoot experimental challenges.
Key Responsibilities: Initiate and independently execute routine in vivo studies focused on CKD and related CRM research. Support the design and execution of exploratory and non-routine experiments with minimal supervision. Perform rodent handling, dosing, health monitoring, and biological sample collection. Apply appropriate dosing routes, including IV, IP, oral, SC, and IM administration. Analyze and interpret experimental data, identify trends, and recommend appropriate follow-up experiments. Conduct literature searches and apply published protocols to support study design and execution. Maintain accurate experimental records and ensure compliance with IACUC guidelines, laboratory SOPs, and applicable regulations. Independently operate laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical issues. Contribute to research protocols, procedures, and scientific reports. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to support research initiatives and incorporate new technologies. Participate in a flexible weekend and holiday rotation as needed to support ongoing studies.
Required Skills: Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline, or a bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Hands-on animal handling experience, including rodent dosing, health monitoring, and sample collection. Experience with common rodent dosing routes, including IV, IP, oral, SC, and IM administration. Understanding of in vivo study design, data analysis, and scientific interpretation. Experience with IACUC compliance and animal research protocols. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Graph Pad Prism, or similar data analysis tools. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment. Willingness to support a flexible weekend schedule when needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience with rodent models of chronic kidney disease (CKD).Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO research environments. Familiarity with cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM) research and emerging research technologies.
