Job Description About Us Since its foundation in 2007, Info Tran Engineers, P.C. (ITE) has delivered top-tier Engineering Design, Construction Management & Inspection, Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Transit Engineering, and Surveying services throughout the New York Metropolitan Area. We proudly support numerous public infrastructure clients including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), New York City Transit (NYCT), Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), and other regional and municipal agencies. As we continue to expand our portfolio of transit and infrastructure projects, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to lead safety operations across high-profile agency assignments, with a strong focus on NYCT/MTA initiatives.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead safety initiatives on NYCT/MTA and other transportation agency projects, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety regulations and client-specific requirements. Monitor and enforce compliance with safety, health, and environmental laws, codes, and standards-particularly those set by MTA, NYCT, OSHA, NYC DOB, and similar regulatory bodies. Conduct regular job site audits and inspections and prepare detailed safety reports with a focus on urban transit and infrastructure environments. Manage and improve the organization's HSE Management System to align with project-specific needs and agency expectations. Investigate incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and document corrective and preventive actions in compliance with agency reporting procedures. Work collaboratively with project managers and engineering teams to develop safety work procedures that translate agency policies into actionable jobsite practices. Attend and contribute to contractors' pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and safety briefings. Provide safety training in compliance with NYCT/MTA protocols and site-specific/client-mandated standards. Support continuous improvement and performance monitoring of safety programs across various agency projects. Coordinate with other internal safety professionals to ensure consistency and excellence in field safety practices. Ability to travel regionally to various job sites as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Engineering, or a related field preferred. CSP certification is highly desired. Minimum of 10 years of safety management experience, with significant focus on NYCT/MTA or other public agency infrastructure projects. MTA Track Safety Training Certificate is required.
Required Certifications:
OSHA 30, NYC DOB 40 Hr, NYCT C-3, Asbestos Project Monitor and/or C-5 Supervisor. Experience with regulatory frameworks and safety expectations of MTA, NYCT, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, and similar agencies. Ability to lead, mentor, and influence diverse project teams in high-risk construction environments. Excellent communication and analytical skills, with strong reporting capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
