Upholstery Technician Wichterman's Upholstery, a family-owned custom upholstery shop in business for more than 40 years, is seeking a talented Upholstery Technician who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about impeccable craftsmanship. You will restore and create premium interiors across furniture, automotive, marine, and aviation projects, transforming client vision into reality. Key responsibilities include preparing and handling premium fabrics, leathers, vinyl, and other upholstery materials for custom installation; designing and executing custom upholstery solutions for furniture, vehicles, and specialty pieces according to client specifications; developing and cutting precise patterns, translating designs into detailed templates; operating commercial walking-foot sewing machines, staplers, hot-knife cutters, and other hand or power tools safely; maintaining accurate project documentation for time, materials, and processes; upholding OSHA safety regulations and internal quality standards; and adapting techniques and solving problems creatively to meet unique client requests. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, two or more years of experience in residential or commercial upholstery (strong portfolios may offset experience), formal training in automotive, aircraft, or marine upholstery is a plus, proficiency with leather, vinyl, cloth, carpet, and foam fabrication, skilled in flat pattern layout, sewing, gluing, and use of walking-foot sewing machines, strong attention to detail and appreciation for luxury finishes, able to work independently and collaboratively; clear verbal and written communication skills, punctual, career-oriented, and highly self-motivated, and physically able to stand, bend, kneel, and lift heavy components.
