BLINC is seeking a South Florida based co-curator to help shape and deliver its 2027 exhibition. This is a consulting engagement, not an employee position. The co-curator will work alongside lead curator, Kerry Chen, and BLINC's Executive Director, G Wright, to develop the exhibition's theme, connect the project to local artists and audiences, and manage key logistical and administrative functions for the show.
BLINC is looking for someone who already has roots here. The right person brings lived knowledge of South Florida's communities, existing relationships with local artists, and a track record of engaging audiences authentically in this region.
Role and Responsibilities:
Curatorial Direction
Serve as co-curatorial voice in developing the 2027 theme, helping shape a concept that reflects South Florida's artistic, cultural, and political currents
Bring local grounding and lived community knowledge to curatorial decisions throughout the project
Artist Engagement
Leverage direct relationships and credibility with local artists to expand the pool of talent BLINC can reach
Maintain a system for receiving, tracking, and managing artist submissions
Manage all project-related communications with artists, applicants, and other relevant stakeholders, except where otherwise agreed with BLINC
Marketing and Audience Reach
Support authentic marketing to South Florida audiences, drawing on the co-curator's own networks and community standing
Logistics and Administration
Coordinate all logistics related to the receipt, storage, installation, deinstallation, collection, and return of artworks
Maintain all project records and administrative documentation necessary for the successful delivery of the exhibition
Community Building
Build relationships and community connections in 2026 that extend beyond the 2027 exhibition, supporting BLINC's long-term presence in the local arts landscape
Qualifications: Based in South Florida with established relationships in the community
Prior curatorial experience not required
Strong communication and organizational skills
Comfortable working independently as a contractor, with regular check-ins with BLINC's Executive Director and Lead Curator
Engagement Structure
Independent contractor relationship; co-curator is not a BLINC employee and is responsible for their own taxes and insurance
The role will run from August 2026 through May 2027
