Technical Project Manager
Role Summary: Ignyte is seeking a proactive Technical Project Manager to lead the day-to-day execution of cybersecurity, compliance, technology, and implementation projects. This role is responsible for turning project objectives into an organized execution plan, keeping internal teams and customers aligned, identifying blockers early, and maintaining forward momentum. You do not need to be the technical or compliance authority. You do need to learn unfamiliar concepts quickly, understand enough context to ask good questions, know when something requires escalation, and make sure decisions and action items do not get lost. The right person is highly organized, comfortable with ambiguity, proactive without overstepping technical authority, and capable of communicating confidently with customers.
Key Responsibilities: Project Ownership & Execution Own assigned projects from kickoff through completion. Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, dependencies, priorities, risks, and action items. Use Agile and iterative project management techniques where appropriate. Keep projects moving without waiting to be told what to do next. Follow up proactively with team members, customers, and stakeholders. Identify schedule risks, blockers, and dependencies before they become problems. Drive action items to closure and maintain clear accountability for owners and deadlines. Technical & Compliance Learning Quickly learn the terminology, objectives, workflow, and major requirements of assigned cybersecurity and compliance projects. Develop working familiarity with areas such as CMMC, FedRAMP, NIST, SOC 2, ISO, cloud environments, security assessments, and related technical services. Understand enough of the project to recognize when information is missing, conflicting, or requires technical review. Ask effective questions and seek guidance from the appropriate technical or compliance authority rather than making unsupported assumptions. Translate technical discussions into clear tasks, decisions, dependencies, and next steps. Client Communication Serve as the primary project-management contact for assigned customers. Prepare and lead project status meetings. Present project progress, milestones, open items, risks, decisions, and next steps clearly. Gather status updates from internal teams before customer meetings rather than relying on the customer meeting to discover project status. Maintain professional, confident communication even when information is incomplete or issues arise. Follow meetings with clear documentation of decisions, responsibilities, and deadlines. Internal Coordination Coordinate work across consultants, engineers, auditors, security professionals, customer stakeholders, and other project participants. Know who owns technical decisions and route questions to the appropriate subject-matter expert. Escalate issues early when decisions, technical expertise, customer action, or leadership involvement is required. Protect technical resources from unnecessary administrative overhead while ensuring the PM understands the status of their work. Maintain an accurate source of truth for project status. Project Reporting & Documentation Maintain current project plans, meeting notes, action registers, risk registers, and decision logs. Produce concise internal and client-facing status reports. Track commitments and ensure closed items are actually completed. Document scope changes and identify work that may require additional authorization or a change order. Maintain enough documentation that another team member can quickly understand the state of the project.
What Success Looks Like: A successful Technical Project Manager at Ignyte: Knows the current status of every assigned project. Rarely needs leadership to identify the next project-management action. Identifies risks before customers discover them. Follows through consistently on commitments. Learns new compliance and technical concepts quickly. Can explain project status clearly without pretending to be the technical expert. Knows when to make a decision and when to escalate one. Creates confidence with customers through organization, responsiveness, and command of the project. Helps technical teams spend more time delivering and less time chasing information or coordinating logistics.
Qualifications: 2+ years of project management, implementation, consulting, technology, cybersecurity, or related experience. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, dependencies, deadlines, and stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to learn technical terminology and unfamiliar subject matter quickly. Comfortable working directly with customers and technical professionals. Experience using project-management tools and structured project plans. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or other iterative project-management approaches. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Cybersecurity, cloud, GRC, compliance, or professional-services experience is helpful but not required if the candidate demonstrates strong learning ability. Ideal Characteristics We are specifically looking for someone who is: Proactive: Finds the next action instead of waiting for instructions. Fast-learning: Can enter an unfamiliar domain and quickly understand the important concepts. Structured: Turns ambiguous conversations into organized plans and actions. Accountable: Follows commitments through to completion. Client-confident: Communicates clearly and professionally with customers. Curious: Asks questions instead of making assumptions. Self-aware: Understands the boundary between project ownership and technical authority. Comfortable with ambiguity: Can move a project forward even when every answer is not yet available. Detail-oriented: Notices missing information, inconsistent dates, unclear ownership, and unresolved dependencies. Important Role Boundary The Technical Project Manager owns project execution, but does not independently override technical, engineering, audit, or compliance authorities. The PM is expected to understand the issue, gather the relevant facts, identify the decision required, and get that decision to the appropriate authority quickly. Effective project ownership requires facilitating collaboration rather than claiming technical expertise.
