Job Description: Position Title: Maintenance Generalist 2
Department: Facilities, Maintenance, and Custodial Services (FMCS)
Reports To: Assistant Director of FMCSCalendar: 260 Days
Summary:
Perform maintenance service and repair work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties must be performed on-site. Other duties as assigned. Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Performs carpentry tasks such as rough and/or finish work; cabinetry, drywall installation and finish, laminate, roofing, stairs, ceilings, decks, ramps, forms, doors and closures, and interior/exterior remodeling daily as needed. Performs all locksmithing duties, which include replacing locks, making keys, maintaining key inventory, and maintaining key cutting equipment Builds and repairs furniture such as desks, chairs, tables, bulletin boards, chalk boards, marker boards, etc., as needed. Estimates costs of carpentry projects in terms of labor, materials, and time daily as needed. Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions. Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices. Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, irrigation systems, or equipment. Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of equipment. Perform metal fabrication and welding job duties as needed. Perform routine maintenance on electrical heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams. Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures. Repair, prep, pour, and finish concrete structures as needed. Perform general cleaning duties of buildings or properties. Provide groundskeeping services, such as landscaping, moving, or snow removal. Estimates costs of maintenance projects in terms of labor, materials and time daily as needed. Accurately orders and accounts for material and labor relative to work orders daily as needed. Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, Local and Board of Education guidelines. Examines District-owned facilities on a regularly scheduled basis for the purpose of preventative maintenance. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of District-owned hand and power tools, equipment, hardware, materials and supplies. May be required to perform District-wide support services in case of emergency situations. May be required to be on 24-hour call in emergency situations. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities, however, may be required to provide direction for others as assigned or necessary.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
