Pay Tech is seeking a Senior Payroll Consultant who combines deep payroll expertise with a consultative mindset to guide clients through process optimization, technology initiatives, and payroll transformation efforts. This full time remote role offers the opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor, deliver meaningful business outcomes, and partner with clients across a variety of industries, with occasional travel to support key engagements.

Role Overview: The Senior Payroll Consultant serves as both a trusted advisor and hands on payroll expert, helping clients manage critical payroll operations while identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce risk, and optimize performance. This role combines deep payroll, tax, and human resources expertise with strong consulting, analytical, and relationship management skills. Responsibilities range from leading and supporting full cycle payroll processing to guiding clients through operational assessments, process improvements, compliance initiatives, system implementations, and payroll transformation efforts. Working closely with client stakeholders and internal teams, the Senior Payroll Consultant delivers practical solutions, drives measurable business outcomes, and builds lasting client relationships through exceptional service and expertise. What You’ll Lead an Influence: Lead full-cycle U.S. payroll administration and processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional client service Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them navigate complex payroll challenges, mitigate risk, and improve operational effectiveness Conduct operational assessments and lead discovery sessions to identify opportunities for process improvement and organizational efficiency Design and implement practical solutions that optimize payroll processes, controls, and service delivery Present findings, and recommendations, and transformation strategies to client stakeholders and leadership teams with confidence and clarity Support payroll audits and compliance initiatives, ensuring data integrity and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations Guide clients through system implementations, upgrades, consolidations, data migrations, and post go live stabilization efforts Develop payroll processes, procedures, and documentation that support scalable and sustainable operations Deliver training, knowledge transfer, and coaching to client and internal teams Partner with client stakeholders and internal teams to manage risks, resolve issues, and drive successful business outcomes Provide strategic recommendations that enhance payroll operations, improve efficiency, and support organizational goals

Qualifications: Expertise: 7+ years of payroll experience and a strong grasp of best practices Leadership: Proven ability to manage staff, teams, or complex projects Tech-Savvy: Experience with payroll systems (strong preference for Dayforce and/or UKG) and strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable presenting to diverse audiences, from payroll teams to C-suite executives

Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and navigate ambiguity in consulting engagements Knowledge: Payroll tax and human resources experience are strong assets Certification: Certified Payroll Professional certification (CPP or FPC) or equivalent experience.
