Packaging Operator Vernon, CA (On-Site)

The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating, tending, troubleshooting, and general preventive maintenance of machines used to package food products for storage and shipment. Essential Job Responsibilities And Duties Responsible for ensuring team adheres to safety and quality machine, equipment, maintenance orders, and sanitation reports to ensure machine and equipment are functional and ready for use. Clean, oil, set-up, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment. Verify product to confirm production standardized settings and product quality are met. Communicate with Tank Farm Operator to receive oils once receiving guidelines are met; validate votator machines are on and oil is being machine flow, pressure, speed, or temperature; adjust values and lines accordingly to produce final product. Ensure quality and conformity of filled products meet production standards. Document failures and provide corrective actions as needed. Monitor the production line and equipment (box erectors, filling machines, box closers, metal detectors, labelers/lot coders, palletizers), watch for problems such as jams, pileups, and improper machine functionality. Supply packaging materials such as boxes, stretch wrap and other packaging materials to ensure smooth packing and record finished and rejected packaged items and properly put into inventory system. Inspect and remove defective products and packaging production guidelines are met, return unused oil back into Tank Farm; ensure proper procedures are followed. Ability to wear proper PPE (bump cap, ear plugs, safety glasses, hair/beard nets, steel boots, gloves, etc). Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP, Quality and Food Safety requirements. Train other employees in the use and operation of equipment. Use of electric pallet jacks and powered lift vehicles to move packaged product. Understand and provide metrics, associated with department success, to leadership.
