We're looking for an Alloy Development Technician to support aluminum alloy research, laboratory testing, and pilot-scale development.
Key Responsibilities: Operate electric resistance & induction furnacesMelt, cast, and heat-treat aluminum alloysPerform alloy additions and chemistry adjustmentsPrepare samples for metallography and materials testingConduct thermal analysis, density, corrosion, and tensile testingOperate spectrometers and laboratory equipmentPerform cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etchingRecord test data, maintain lab records, and prepare reportsSafely operate/learn forklifts, overhead cranes, furnaces, and casting equipmentRequirements: Associate degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, Mechanical/Manufacturing Technology, or related field OR technical/military training or equivalent industrial experienceExperience in a laboratory, foundry, manufacturing, materials, or industrial environmentStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsGood computer, documentation, and data-entry skillsAbility to safely work around molten aluminum and high-temperature equipmentAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Experience: Aluminum/metal casting, foundry operations, heat treatment, metallography, materials testing, spectrometry, thermal analysis, machine shop, forklift, or crane operation.
