Human Resources Director

Position Summary: Boone Supported Living provides residential and supported-living services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Director to lead the HR function and support a workforce operating across multiple Missouri communities. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and supervises the HR team.

Key Responsibilities: Lead day-to-day HR operations and supervise, coach, and support HR staff. Maintain compliance with federal and Missouri employment laws, Department of Mental Health requirements, and organizational policies. Develop, review, communicate, and consistently administer policies, procedures, and HR systems. Advise leadership and managers on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and workplace concerns. Oversee workplace investigations and ensure issues are addressed promptly, consistently, and thoroughly. Manage benefits administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, FMLA, leaves of absence, and related documentation. Provide oversight of recruiting, onboarding, retention, training coordination, and employee records. Track HR trends and workforce needs, identify risks, and recommend practical improvements. Balance operational needs, regulatory requirements, and fair treatment of employees while supporting services for the people we serve.

Required Qualifications: At least five years of progressive human resources experience. Previous HR leadership or supervisory experience. Demonstrated experience with employment compliance, employee relations, investigations, and policy administration. Working knowledge of benefits, workers' compensation, unemployment, FMLA, and leave administration. Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and communicate clearly with employees and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification. HR experience in intellectual and developmental disability services, healthcare, behavioral health, residential services, or another highly regulated environment. Experience supporting a geographically dispersed, around-the-clock workforce.
