Product Manager, Upstream | Medical Devices Madison, NJ | Hybrid, approximately two days onsite per weekI'm partnering with an established organ-preservation business, now part of a global medtech group, to hire an Upstream Product Manager. Its technology keeps donor livers metabolically active outside the body, allowing clinical teams to assess them before transplantation. The next challenge is deciding where that technology, and the wider product portfolio, should go next. That's where you come in. Reporting to the Global Director of Marketing, you'll help shape a global roadmap looking approximately 18 months to five years ahead. Your work will connect unmet clinical needs, technical possibilities and commercial opportunity to guide product investment. What you'll take ownership ofGet close to clinicians through customer research, advisory boards and procedural observations to identify problems worth solving. Translate those insights into product requirements, business cases and roadmap recommendations. Assess market potential, pricing, development risk and financial returns to support investment decisions. Bring R&D, engineering, clinical and commercial colleagues behind a shared product direction. Help establish the processes around discovery and portfolio prioritization. Work with Business Development to assess partnerships, licensing and acquisition opportunities. The scope extends across future devices, software and supporting services. There's room to influence both the products the business pursues and how it reaches those decisions. The experience that matters You'll bring 7+ years across medical device product management, upstream marketing or product strategy, with clear examples of shaping early product decisions. You should be comfortable discussing complex procedures with clinicians, building a commercial case and explaining an opportunity to people with different technical backgrounds and priorities. Experience creating structure in a smaller or entrepreneurial business would be particularly valuable. This is a hands-on role for someone who can make progress while processes are still being developed. Cardiovascular, interventional, surgical, critical-care and other complex medical device backgrounds are welcome. Direct transplantation experience is useful, but clinical curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn are more important. Experience with regulated hardware, software and consumable systems, design controls and cross-functional product development will also be relevant. Apply with your CV to discuss the opportunity in confidence.
