Job Description: Mechanical Technician \nLocation: Chester \n Salary: Negotiable Depending on Experience \n Job Type: Permanent\nOverview: \n\nWe are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join our clients specialist engineering and manufacturing environment focused on the assembly and integration of advanced automated and process systems.\nThis is a hands-on role suited to a mechanically skilled technician who has experience working with precision mechanical assemblies, engineering drawings, high-accuracy measurement equipment and complex machinery including breakdown, repairs and troubleshooting.\nYou will be involved in the mechanical activities including adjustment, alignment and integration of advanced equipment, ensuring assemblies are completed safely, accurately and to the required quality standards.\nThe role would suit candidates with backgrounds such as Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Technician, Precision Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician, Machine Assembly Technician, Mechanical Integration Technician or Metrology Technician.\n \nKey Responsibilities:\n\nCarry out mechanical assembly and integration activities on complex automated and process equipment.\nInterpret engineering drawings, mechanical blueprints and assembly documentation.\nPrepare the required materials, components, tools and equipment before commencing assembly activities.\nAssemble, adjust, align and position mechanical components to required specifications and tolerances.\nUse precision measurement and metrology equipment to verify dimensions, alignment and positional accuracy.\nUse equipment such as laser trackers, interferometry systems or similar high-precision measurement technology.\nMeasure and assess characteristics including straightness, positioning, angularity and alignment.\nCarry out mechanical adjustments to achieve the required accuracy and performance.\nAssemble and tighten bolted joints in accordance with the relevant technical procedures and specifications.\nWork with mechanical, pneumatic and, where required, electrical systems as part of the wider equipment integration process.\nIdentify and report technical issues that may affect the assembly, quality or delivery of the equipment.\nRecord assembly progress, issues and measurements accurately and clearly.\nWork in accordance with company quality, health and safety and environmental procedures.\nApply 5S and continuous improvement principles within the assembly environment.\nCare for and correctly use all tools, equipment and measurement systems.\nContribute ideas to improve assembly methods, processes and equipment.\nSupport the sharing of technical knowledge and best practice across the wider engineering and assembly teams.\n \nWhat We Are Looking For:\n\nThe ideal candidate will have experience in a precision mechanical assembly, mechanical fitting, machine building, equipment installation or mechanical integration environment.\n \nEssential Experience\n\nProven experience in mechanical assembly, mechanical fitting or the integration of complex machinery.\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, blueprints and technical documentation.\nExperience using precision measurement and metrology equipment.\nProven experience with laser trackers, interferometry or comparable high-accuracy measurement systems.\nExperience measuring and assessing straightness, positioning, angularity and alignment.\nExperience carrying out mechanical adjustment and precision alignment activities.\nMechanical vocational training, apprenticeship, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\n \nDesirable Experience\n\nKnowledge of pneumatic systems.\nBasic knowledge of electrical systems.\nExperience working with automated machinery, process systems, special-purpose machinery or advanced manufacturing equipment.\nExperience with torque-controlled assembly and the tightening of bolted joints.\nExperience working within a 5S, lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment.\n \nWhy Apply?\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Assembly Technician, Mechanical Fitter or Precision Mechanical Technician to work on advanced equipment where accuracy, technical ability and attention to detail are essential.\nYou will work in a technically challenging environment, contributing directly to the assembly and integration of complex automated and process systems.\nIf you have experience in precision mechanical assembly, machine building, metrology, laser tracking, interferometry or mechanical alignment, we would be keen to hear from you.\n \n\nYour CV will be forwarded to Jonathan Lee Recruitment, a leading engineering and manufacturing recruitment consultancy established in 1978.
