Job Summary: The Repair Station Painter operates under minimal supervision to safely prepare, paint, and detail aircraft components according to schedule. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role involves utilizing various technical paint processes, adhering to strict FAA and company quality standards, and maintaining specialized shop equipment. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, deep knowledge of industrial coatings, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities: Safely prepare, paint, and detail aircraft components, including masking, sanding, and applying glazing and sealing compounds. Operate, clean, and maintain all types of preparation and priming equipment, and accurately mix paints and primers. Perform leading-edge sealant work during final detailing. Coordinate with supervision and Inspection teams to ensure full compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs, and quality standard operating procedures when using dual-action sanders, paint sprayers, sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive chemicals. Address unsafe conditions immediately, comply strictly with safety rules, and utilize appropriate protective equipment (PPE).Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and offer ideas to enhance shop processes.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED.Two (2) years of experience in related industrial or automotive paint processes. Working knowledge of paint processes and products, including lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics. Physical ability to walk, stand for long periods, frequently reach, and handle tools or objects, as well as occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to comfortably and safely work in an environment with frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise levels.
Ideal Qualifications: Prior aircraft industry experience is highly preferred. Demonstrated familiarity with FAA compliance and repair station documentation.
