Keystone Cement is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance team. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for managing capital and maintenance projects while providing mechanical engineering support to plant operations and maintenance activities. The Maintenance Engineer will lead projects from concept through commissioning, including scope development, design review, budgeting, contractor coordination, equipment installation, and startup. In addition, the role serves as a key technical resource for troubleshooting equipment issues, improving reliability, supporting major outages, and identifying opportunities to enhance plant performance. The successful candidate will combine strong project management capabilities with practical mechanical engineering experience in a cement manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities: Capital Projects & Engineering Lead capital and maintenance projects from conception through commissioning and startup. Develop project scopes, engineering specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and contractor work plans. Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, and contractor performance. Coordinate engineering consultants, equipment vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and equipment designs. Oversee equipment installation, construction activities, and project commissioning efforts. Prepare project justifications and support capital expenditure requests. Identify and develop opportunities for equipment modernization, capacity improvements, and process optimization. Mechanical Engineering & Reliability Support Provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support to maintenance and operations teams. Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures and recurring maintenance issues. Support reliability improvement initiatives for critical plant assets, including kilns, mills, crushers, conveyors, fans, pumps, and material handling systems. Participate in plant inspections and condition assessments to identify improvement opportunities. Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs through engineering analysis and recommendations. Assist with planning and execution of annual shutdowns and major maintenance activities. Evaluate equipment performance and recommend solutions to improve safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. Serve as a technical resource for maintenance personnel on complex mechanical systems and equipment issues.
Qualifications: Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in cement manufacturing or a comparable heavy industrial environment. Demonstrated experience managing capital projects in an operating industrial facility. Experience troubleshooting and improving heavy industrial equipment and systems. Experience working with rotating equipment, material handling systems, and process equipment common to cement manufacturing.
Knowledge & Skills: Strong mechanical engineering and project management skills. Working knowledge of cement plant equipment, maintenance practices, and industrial reliability principles. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience with SAP or a comparable maintenance management system preferred. AutoCAD or similar engineering design software experience preferred.
