Position Summary:
Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the Shipping Lead oversees and coordinates the daily work of employees responsible for transporting materials, supplies, and finished products. This role ensures safe and efficient shipping operations, accurate inventory and documentation, and quality outgoing deliveries.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily workflow, scheduling, and assignments for the shipping team
- Ensure equipment is available and in working order
- Lead daily safety checks of forklifts and applicable portions of trucks
- Inspect delivered supplies and equipment for quality and quantity
- Verify outgoing deliveries meet quality standards and order slips are accurate and signed
- Maintain inventory records and distribute stock to fulfill requisitions
- Acquire additional stock as needed
- Communicate company rules, policies, regulations, and objectives to team members
- Maintain accurate work records and documentation
- Identify and implement improvements to department effectiveness
- Resolve conflicts among team members and other employees
- Assist with training and provide timely, constructive performance feedback
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of related work experience
- Experience leading a team of peers
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- Knowledge of warehouse procedures and regulations
- Basic understanding of inventory, records, and warehouse documentation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to motivate and lead a team to accomplish objectives
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at times
