University Of Michigan Medical School Photographer And Digital Media Producer This position will be the primary photographer for the University of Michigan Medical School. This person will produce high-end photo projects for both internal and external clients within the medical school. Types of projects can include digital and print marketing campaigns, social and event coverage, environmental portrait and website headshot production. This role will also be responsible for some video content in collaboration with other Creative Producers and Social Communicators. This role will be part of the Medical School Communications team and the Creative Services Team at Michigan Medicine and report directly to the Digital Engagement Strategist. In collaboration with the Department of Communication, produce photography content for all Medical School content platforms, including social, web, print and digital advertising. Capture all major Medical School events and initiatives, turning around finalized products on tight deadlines and transferring assets to other communicators around campus. Operate portrait studio inside the hospital for medical professionals twice a month with environmental portraits taken when necessary. Storyboard, film, and edit vertical videos for social platforms for clients within the medical school. Maintain and document metadata for all photos taken and add assets to Digital Asset Management system and archival database. Collaborate and brainstorm creative ideas with both Medical School communication and Creative Services teammates. Enforce and audit PPE (personal protective equipment) adherence and PHI (protected health information) removal in photography within the medical school as well as other applicable Michigan Medicine policies.
Education: Bachelor's degree in photography, video or fine arts, or a similar communications field. Minimum of 2-4 years of creative producing experience in the photography or video field. Fluent in the Adobe Creative Cloud applications. Experience working within an academic medical center or higher education. Proficiency and familiar with digital asset management systems. Familiarity with social media platforms. We are looking for a highly skilled Photographer and Digital Media Producer to represent the University of Michigan Medical School as part of Michigan Medicine's Department of Communication creative services team. This position will report directly to the U-M Medical School Communication Director to support the academic and research mission and have a matrixed role to the Department of Communication Associate Director of Creative Services for daily responsibilities. The University of Michigan Medical School (UMMS) fosters the education and research missions of Michigan Medicine, one of the top academic medical centers in the country. The school has a 174-year history of creating innovative programs designed to train the next generation of leaders in medicine, science and other emerging health professions. The Photographer and Digital Media Producer will be focused on creating photography, vertical videos, and other digital assets that showcase the breadth and depth of educational programs and groundbreaking research, along with highlighting our faculty, learners, staff and academic culture within the U-M Medical School. Successful candidates must be imaginative, versatile, adaptable, quick-thinking, enthusiastic, creative and team-oriented, with strong communications skills and a sense of design. This role will have to manage multiple projects at a time within a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will have a demo reel or portfolio showcasing their creativity and quality of work. Core business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends are required.
