Grain Handler

Position summary: Our client is hiring a Grain Handler for its McLeansboro, IL elevator to support the receiving, loading, and transferring of grain during harvest and peak seasons. This location handles grain by truck and rail only - there is no barge traffic at this facility. Grain Handlers work as part of a team to keep grain moving safely and efficiently in and out of the facility, including work performed on top of rail cars.

Key responsibilities: Assist with the receiving, weighing, grading, loading, and unloading of grain via truck and rail cart (no barge operations at this location).Perform work on top of rail cars as part of the rail loading/unloading process, following all applicable safety procedures. Operate and monitor grain handling equipment, including grain dryers, bin sweeps, and related elevator equipment. Inspect trucks and rail cars prior to loading to ensure product quality and safety standards are met. Perform general housekeeping, cleaning, and basic maintenance duties throughout the facility. Follow safety programs and environmental procedures at all times, including proper use of PPE.Work collaboratively with other facility personnel to maintain efficient elevator operations. Schedule Harvest / busy season: Monday through Sunday, approximately 12-14 hours per day. Off-season: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.Schedule and hours will fluctuate based on seasonal grain volume. Flexibility and reliable attendance during harvest are essential.

Qualifications: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks. Comfortable working at heights and in an active industrial/rail environment. Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and a variable schedule during harvest and peak seasons. Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow detailed safety procedures. Prior grain elevator, agricultural, or industrial experience is a plus but not required. Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced seasonal environment.
