PIPE WELDER/FITTERUses metal core mig, fluxcore, subarc, tig or stick welding processes (must pass two or more) Reads and understands P & ID drawings and other package layout drawings to determine appropriate welding processMay weld brackets and braces and use grinders. May position pieces to be welding into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. May perform position welds on code materialsProficient in flame and plasma cutting torchesBe able to read and understand blueprints and perform own fit-upMust be able to operates basic cutting equipmentMay layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templatesPositions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand toolsWorks with different types and sizes of structural materialsInspects complete welds to determine structural soundnessOperates cutting equipmentSafely operates iron worker, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding machine, tube bending machine, and various pneumatic hand toolsAssembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job Required Test: Must be able to pass a 6G weld test; vessel or pipeMust be able to pass a written fitters exam Preferred Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent or equal combination of education and experienceMust have five (5) years related experience and/or training; welding school or on the job trainingKnowledge of different types and sizes of pipe and vessel material Physical Strain: Lifting up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 30 poundsBending, squatting, climbing, pulling, stooping, twisting, reaching, working at elevated heights
