We are building a trucking brokerage from the ground up, and we are looking for the person to run it. Komar is a family-owned company with 118 years of history and a multibillion-dollar footprint. Our 3PL arm, Komar Distribution Services, operates 2.9 million square feet of warehouse space across California, Oklahoma, Georgia, and New Jersey. Komar Logistic Services (KLS) is the new brokerage built on top of that: we start by moving freight for Komar's own brands and our 3PL clients, then open the doors to external customers. That means you get something rare in brokerage: a captive freight base on day one, a parent company's balance sheet behind you, and the chance to build the operation your way. It also means we need someone who can run the desk on their own while hiring and training the team around them. What you will own: Carrier sourcing and capacity. Build and manage our carrier base, negotiate rates, and personally cover freight when it matters. Daily operations. Run the desk from quote to closeout across FTL dry van, LTL, intermodal, flatbed, reefer, and expedited. No port drayage or container dispatch. Customer relationships. Be the voice our customers trust on the phone, set the service standard for the team, and grow existing accounts by adding lanes, modes, and volume. Team leadership. Hire, train, coach, and manage our customer service and operations team as the brokerage scales. A/R and A/P oversight. Approve carrier and customer charges before hand-off to Komar's accounting teams, who handle all processing.
What you bring: 4+ years in freight brokerage or truckload operations, including hands-on carrier sourcing and rate negotiation. Strong relationships with U.S. carriers and a working understanding of the U.S. truckload market. Experience leading people, or clear readiness to step into it. A great phone presence and a track record of building customer trust. A commercial mindset. You see the upsell and you go get it. The ability to run a desk independently while building a team around you.
Nice to have: an existing carrier network, P&L or branch responsibility, and Broker Ware or another brokerage TMS.
Position Location: Remote, U.S.-based. If you are near Perris, CA; Savannah, GA; McAlester, OK; or our New Jersey facility, you are welcome onsite anytime. Otherwise, plan for quarterly visits to Savannah, GA or Perris, CA.
