The Director, Financial Services and Tax Policy, will support External Affairs’ efforts to advance policy solutions related to financial services and tax in support of United Health Group’s advocacy priorities and to advance our mission.
Primary Responsibilities: Monitor, analyze and report on federal financial services and tax legislation, regulations, and policy developments in areas that relate to United Health Group’s business concerns Lead strategic monitoring and analysis of Congressional hearings and key agency and stakeholder engagements to inform organizational priorities and decision-making Develop legislative and executive branch messaging and advocacy strategies, crafting high-impact materials and guiding engagement efforts with Congress and the Administration. Lead the analysis of key think tank and thought leader activities on relevant subject matters Partner cross-functionally to develop policy positioning and coordinate advocacy strategy during the consideration of relevant legislation or regulation, ensuring timely, impactful engagement with policymakers and stakeholders Lead policy research and industry analysis to identify emerging environmental trends and shape internal strategic initiatives Develop official correspondence, thought leadership content, presentations, and policy updates to advance strategic objectives Lead coordination of cross-functional initiatives to advance External Affairs advocacy priorities, aligning teams and resources to maximize impact Establish relationships with colleagues across the enterprise to ensure coordinated engagement on health policy issues and effectively ensure consistency of messaging Facilitate internal working groups, including deployment of comprehensive strategies and tactics, to achieve United Health Group’s policy and advocacy priorities You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in financial services and tax policy Experience monitoring, analyzing, and synthesizing state and/or federal and regulations. Experience with health care financing models and options Proven understanding of how legislation impacts business goals and ability to articulate these impacts Proven understanding of the relationship between financial and tax policy, health care finance, and business operations Proven excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build rapport and trust and an affinity for collaborative work Demonstrated industry-wide and broad cross-industry perspective Proven superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and programs to senior executives Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and the ability to gather, assess, and synthesize information from various sources Proven solid organizational skills and ability to manage work on multiple projects simultaneously Ability to anticipate needs and foresee and overcome obstacles Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
