As a Machine Operator, I am responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment. This role ensures safe and efficient operation of machinery, adheres to strict quality and safety standards, and supports continuous production flow. To be successful in the role of Machine Operator, you need to be safe-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, process-driven environment. Located at our Florence, Kentucky site, the Machine Operator reports to the Production Supervisor with direction given by the Production Lead.
Position Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation Be fully trained on packaging machinery. Operates, monitors, and adjusts chemical processing equipment such as mixers, reactors, blenders, grinders, fillers, or packaging machinery. Follow batch records, production instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Starts up, shuts down, and cleans equipment according to established protocols. Safety & Compliance Works in full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal safety standards. Properly uses PPE (respirators, gloves, goggles, chemical suits, etc.) as required. Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hazard communication procedures. Immediately report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or environmental risks. Quality Control Conducts in-process checks including measurements, weights, temperatures, pressures, and visual inspections. Records data accurately in logs, batch sheets, and digital systems. Identifies and communicates deviations or abnormalities that could impact product quality. Maintenance & Housekeeping Performs basic preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Keeps work areas clean and free of hazards. Assist maintenance technicians during repairs or equipment adjustments. Teamwork & Communication Coordinates with shift leads, quality staff, and maintenance teams to meet production goals. Communicates production status, issues, and improvements to supervisors. Participates in training, safety meetings, and continuous improvement activities
Position Requirements:
High School diploma or GEDAt least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or chemical environment. Technical school training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or electrical systems Basic understanding of mechanical systems (motors, gears, bearings, belts).Basic knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, or instrumentation Familiarity with basic electrical concepts (voltage, circuits, fuses).
Preferred:
Forklift certification Experience with PLC controlled equipment, batch processing, or automated systems Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO standards, Kosher, Halaa, and NSF Quality Standards Trouble shooting of equipment Mechanical inclined Essential Position Functions Follow all safety requirements including wearing the appropriate PPE (contact lenses prohibited on the production floor)Move around production floor for prolonged periods of time Lift up to 50 pounds Read and follow work instructions, batch records, and safety documentation. Work around chemicals, industrial equipment, and various environmental conditions. Work on different times/ shifts based on business needs; overtime may be required based on production needs Repeated bending, lifting, and manual handling of materials.
